One of my favourite games of the season, especially when we win

Having skimmed through some of this thread I notice there's at least a few passionate mariners supporters and season ticket holders. Likewise, I've been a season ticket holder (or member as the Mariners like to call them) in the back row of bay 8 for the last 4 seasons with wife and kids.

I guess membership renewals won't be too far away. Must admit I'm feeling less motivated than previous years. It will be interesting to see whether there's a large gap in home games mid-season (I think it was 6 or 7 weeks last year), how many games will be played at home or in Canberra (or other random places like Parramatta) and whether the prices remain the same.

Certainly hope the crowds improve this year; its so much better when there's 15,000 compared with 6,500. Can't see it starting off well though with how our season ended with a whimper; especially after looking so promising half way through.

We all follow a yellow football team, etc...

I can only suggest that $25 a ticket to watch a nil all draw is not going to fill a stadium.
I would have thought the marketing genius' would have worked out that free kids entry and $10 a ticket is cheaper than going to see a movie, ergo a full stadium with most adults spending the extra $10 at the candy/beer store.  Huh

Anyway, we can discuss this heading back up out of brooklyn on Saturday ......  Grin

Yeh, perhaps better pricing is the answer. I guess the bean counters would consider that option.

As for a nil all draw not filling a stadium, I guess it is a problem for football with the Australian psyche expecting points to be scored every few minutes. Having said that, there's plenty who will watch a 5 day game of cricket that ends in a draw. Like cricket, I believe its more about education on the tactics, skill level and fitness required so spectators can actually be drawn in by what is going on when no goals are being scored. Lets face it, football is never going to be marketed on goal frequency.

I'm hoping the coming season is a good one with GA in charge. The club does need to assess the ticketing, I remember in V1 and V2 you could get a family ticket for $35, and it included 4 kids. There were tickets being handed out all over the place enabling people to get in cheaply and the stadium rocked.
