Will there be any organised rides for this weekend? I realise that racing is on at Kooragang to support the Amy Gillet Foundation in the continuing effort to make our roads a safer place. Will there be training rides over the weekend, or are the coffee rides going to be the 'warm ups' for Monday? Personally... I may be heading to PITS...

can you go easy on the slagging of the amy gillet foundation, joking or not, because people i.e. me think it is a very important cause, so no one else has to go through the death of one of there best mates after being hit by a truck whilst riding. ps. sorry to sound so serious but it means alot to me. now ive got that out- back to the sh*t talk

Thats it guys.. No matter how little the Foundation may do, it will hopefully prevent 1 death, isnt that enough? Who knows it may be you. Ive been hit be 2 cars, a truck and a bus, there has to be a train coming somewhere, and if a plane gets me, well that is unlucky.. So guys, if you can get up there to race on Monday to support the Amy Gillet Foundation, do it, I know I will be if I can fit it in and am allowed off the chain..

I suggest to all our members, get out there and support the Amy Gillet Foundation Our club members would be better off taking the time out to sit down and write letters that try to influence government and motoring bodies like the NRMA rather than putting more dollars into an organisation that does very little other than simply trying to survive. In two years their list of achievements are: - 2 scholarships
- editorial contribution to a road education program in Victoria
- an advertising campaign that was not linked to any government or motoring body lasting just 3 weeks on TV and slightly longer in Val Morgan Cinemas
- some glossy brochures regurgitating stats collected by other organisations
- a couple of community rides, no better than existing ones like the Gong ride, the Alpine classic, etc
- self-preservation
As far as I can tell the Amy Gillett Foundation has no, and will continue to have no, influence or impact in its key area of concern ("to reduce the incidence of death and injury caused by the interaction of cyclists and motorists") if it continues to operate the way it has over the past two years. The ignorance will remain the same, the death rate will stay the same, everying will stay the same. But we'll still get a couple of nice community rides and the Amy Gillett Foundation will survive despite failing to do what it set out to achieve. Go ahead, donate. I won't be.

You would think so wouldnt you.. The stupid part is that the car drivers admitted to seeing me, yet still 'chose' to do what they did.. The bus and truck that got me were just minor clips...
