Hi guys,

Just thought I would write you guys a message to let you know what I have been up to (andy suggested it!).

I had a bit of a rough start up here that is for sure! I had a crash on my bike (into a pole, to avoid being hit by a car!). I just had a sore neck and shoulder, mainly muscle spasm but it is all sorted now!

Yesterday I had my first race in Qld it was the Gatorade Triathlon Series at Robina - sprint distance. I won the race!! I was so excited! I exited the swim in second just behind another girl then a couple caught us on the bike and I was 3rd out onto the run course. I ran into first place on the first lap and powered on from there, I felt like I was flying! I was thinking the girl that was coming second may run me down, so I was running scared but I ended up running 15 secs faster than her, winnning by 30 secs. It is good to know that the hard work is starting to pay off but I still have a long way to go. It was a bit of a confidence boost I guess. I got a write up in the Courier Mail (Qld newspaper) today, so I was pretty excited about that too. I am not sure how to scan and upload it haha and I am not sure if it is on the Courier Mail website if anyone is interested in reading it.

Training has definately stepped up and training with everyone all the time really pushes you along! My body was hating life the first couple of weeks but I am getting use to it a bit more. We train 3 times a day mon-thur, 1 Friday (rec day) and 2-3 on the weekends - usually riding up the mountains which I love  Roll Eyes haha.

We have an elite series coming up Feb 7th and Feb 28th Caloundra (2 x 300/7/1.Cool and Raby Bay (200/6/1.8 Eliminator). All the big girls will be racing there! I think Emma Moffat and Snowsill will be there as well as all the girls I train with. These races are only very short which doesn't really suit me I prefer a longer swim, more like Olympic distance so it will be pretty intense. My main focus in March is Oceana Championships in Wellington, NZ this the selection race for U23 Worlds, this is an olympic distance race! I will also be racing Mooloolabah at the end of March.

Well that is about all for now. I am off for a run session!

Hey guys,

I have a spare minute so I thought I would update you on what I have been up to. Both national races are over (caloundra double super sprint) and Raby Bay (triple super sprint). We trained through both events as my main focus is Wellington on March 13th (Olympic distance). Caloundra was 2 triathlons back to back. My goal was to be with the lead bunch for the second run and I was just off the back of the main pack of 6 girls, I ended up 14th which I was a little disappointed with but it was ok considering where I am at.

Next race was Raby Bay, I placed 13th (6th Aussie). I led all 3 swims and was at front of the front bunch for the rides, I was feeling pretty ordinary on the day especially running however the result was ok considering where I am at and the format of the racing.

Next on the agenda is Oceania Championships at Wellington. This being the only U23 selection race for world championships in Budapest, Hungary. This race is also a selection race for 'Young Guns.' Young guns is a tour of Europe for 10-12 weeks. This includes racing a couple of World Cups, as well as a stint training at AIS camp in France. Getting ready for Hungary. So a good race will set up some great opportunity!

Following Wellington, I have been selected for my first World Cup start at Mooloolabah!! This is on March 28th. I am fairly nervous but it will be a great experience!

That is about it for now!

Well done to CCCC Club member Keira Pride!

Just looked up results from the Oceania Championships in Wellington. Keira finished a fantastic second place!

Her time would have placed her in 5th position Elite  Shocked

The Oceania Champs were a qualifing race for the worlds so lets wait and see if Keira makes the cut.
