Last year we consistently had fields of 40 or more across three grades and a strong A grade field every week.

This year we have a superb showing of juniors week in week out but the seniors seem to be in hiding.

Not mentioning any names, but where are Grant (I have a reasonable excuse) Frazer, Nigel (cough, splutter, little vommie for the crowd) Knight, big Dick Pettigrew, MJ Smith, Paul (the blue foam hugger) Shaw, climbo (aka Darth vader), Eddie (better get a lawyer son) Butler, Chappie, Ray Kerkin, PONTY, Matty Brown, Brad Magus, Andy OBryan, MILLSEY, Charles, Chris Chapman, Craig (I'm on a comeback) Olsen, DALE, David O, Andrew Hawes, LAURENCE (the baby faced assassin) Van Schie, Paul Worby, Paul Hanley, Callum Docker, Dane Booker, Jeff Morris, Peter Smits, Ross Clague, Vic Mostaedt, Brett Condon, IAN CUTHBERTSON, Michael Docker, PEIRRE, ROYCEEEEEEE, Steve Weaver, Tony Jones and Troy Paterson?

Crikey! That's an enormous list of riders who are MIA.  If just a few of them turned up each week it would make racing a whole lot more interesting and enjoyable.

So come on down every other Wednesday night guys, there's plenty of fun to be had and some good racing in between.

Jock is correct in saying numbers are down however, not as dramatically as he has indicated.
Last year we had a mean of 32 riders in the senior ranks and 8 in junior development

Week 4 2007 had 27 senior and 21 junior development
Week 5 2007 had 25 senior and 20 junior development

  • C grade has been significantly up (10-14) with solid numbers in fact we have had to split C grade into two grades on several occasions.
B Grade has been fairly consistent with about 8-10 riders
It is A Grade that has been disappointing (4-8)
Are they sick of being beaten by Mick Curran

Add to the MIA list Phil Thuaxe, whom I have not seen race at Adcock Park for 4 years. Despite him being in the Australian Track Team and despite the club organising a track bike for him 5 years ago. It would be good to see if the entire of A grade as a team could pursuit off against Phil over 4km (Phil by himself and A grade like an Italian)

Actually this is not a bad Idea. I would put $10 into a pool as a prize and I am sure at least 10 other members would do the same.

OK the Challenge has now been officially offered!
Bring it on.

Crafty
I will put $20 in, now we have $30 anyone else with some serious $ want to make it worth while. If we can get Phil to make a cameo we could promo CCCC track in the media and get some of the missing trackies excited again.

So far we have a prize pool of $110 just from the dudes who use this forum. I have a feeling that we could easily double the cash prize with the rest of the crew who are not so computer savy.

So the question is has anyone spoken to Phil about this?  I know he is  off to Bejing next week for round two of the World Cup.

Also A graders, if this gets up you will need some serious fire power. You will need to call in some riders who have not been thus far 2007/8

Just to scare our A graders
Below is Phil's Qualifiing time for World Cup, Note the average speed and remember that it is from a standing start.

Phillip Thuaux 4.23.097 (54.732 km/h)

Don't you have to take into account the ~2.5sec per km difference between here & Dunc Gray?  That would equate to a turtle-esque 4:33 (only 52.75kmh).  Hmmmm... still seems a little quicker than we need him to be, so I'll bring a box of thumb tacks.  That should slow him down a tad.

CCCC 4000m Teams pursuit record is 5:25.76   DO, BS, RP, LM   5-Mar 2003
