 :)Hi all,
just letting you know that we have found a road cordinator for the 2010 season,( that would be me !). The thought of having to race all year round at Wyong eventually pushed me into taking the role !. It would be a great loss if CCCC were unable to utilise such a great road course (especially blood hill ) simply due to a lack of volunteers. No doubt many Cycling Clubs would love to have such a section of road to be able to run their road season

The sobering thought is that we still need those club members with current traffic control licences to voulunteer to either pick up the trailer each Sat from West Gosford, set out signs at both ends of the course, control traffic at Peats Ridge, collect signs and return trailer to West Gosford. We also need traffic control, and assist with the entry desk for each race at the Calga end of the course. We really need TC's with a car/towbar to volunteer and spread the load.If everyone shares the load you may only have to volunteer once during the road season. It's a long season so if everyone who thinks they can help please let me know ( via PM) any dates when you will not be available. Once that's done the roster will be published and it will be up to the individuals concerned to organise any additional swaps.
The draft of the road calendar (thanks Hodgee)is being reviewed by the committee, so hopefully it will be out soon

anyway thats all at the moment

Pete
I don't have a TC certification, will do my share if another TC cert is being organised. In any event, I do have a car with a tow ball, and can be rostered for the sign on.
Looking forward to getting the cobwebs off the bike and a world of hurt  Tongue

Fantastic Pete and thanks for volunteering for the position  Cheesy

When is the 2010 road season to start and finish so I can work out when I can help ?

Last year I was able to assist the sign on desk multiple times (its not hard) and do traffic control duties (TC) on the calga end after riding up, so I still got the miles in.

We really need to get all members to help out here. Thinking back I can only recall maybe less than 10 different people helped on the desk for the entire season which out of 100+ members means a lot of volunteers are still available.

Lets see if this year all members try and do at least once , twice would be better, assisting with sign on desk (no experience necessary) and / or traffic control if you have certification for it. I am not sure how many have a TC certificate but am pretty sure there are stiil some who have one that can help this year and maybe didnt get to help out last season.

In a proper training/racing plan not every weekend has to be racing, so all members should factor in a recovery week when they can then help out with club duties and still get out of the house and see all your mates.
Gives a lot of self satisfaction too , knowing you are doing your bit.  Smiley

What's the process for getting a Traffic Control Certificate?

Not sure I share your affection for Blood Hill!

Pete just wants to see how many watts he puts out on his new powermeter when racing  Grin

Good on ya Pete, please put me on the roster.
I don't have a TC licence (but happy to join in if training is organised).

Pete
Here is a novel approach.
When signing on, members indicate whether they will be in attendance the following week.
Directly after racing finishes, all numbers for those racing the next week go in a hat (unless we get people volunteering)
First three out do the sign on and TC
If none of these three have TC, we keep drawing numbers till we get someone who does.

Given member numbers, once you have done your week, you shouldn't have to do another all season, and this will make your job a lot easier.

All we need to do then is have a roster for bringing the trailer up and make sure we have enough TC certified in the club.
Cheers

thanks Stu,

All suggestions and ideas will be taken on board. I think at present we have 24 TC's on board, as you pointed out the issue is grabbing the trailer and bringing it up to racing !

I will have a go on the sign in desk, and I put it to all other new members that this would be a good way to see everyone in the club and get your own face known.

I am also happy to help out with sign on when needed, and also to get any qualifications needed to allow me to take on TC duties.

Also, I have a suggestion for an incentive for the volunteers.  I'm not sure how the road season works, but if it was points based it may be an idea to offer "bye" points each week for volunteering duties.  That way people may not feel as though they were missing out if they were not racing.

If not, perhaps after a member volunteers a certain number of times they may be able to qualify for a free entry voucher?
