Yes all of the above happens.  If we have a points score this year, you get points for volunteering.  Every time you volunteer you also get a free race.

well there really isn't a good reason to not volunteer at least once, unless you have a fear of tables, lollipop signs and hi-vis vests.

Count me in for some duties!

I can help do the check-in desk, don't have TC or tow bar though. I just need a bit of warning re dates as I'll have to juggle kids soccer.

Not to sound anymore stupid than i normally do, I ahve a tow bar but wondering if the trailer is the wheat bix one? Wouln't mind doing my bit towing up trailer but not sure if my mazda 2 would have the ticker to tow it up as i have a tow bar. I don't mind offering my left handedness at the sign on desk. Count me in there

Might as well make my first post a positive one. This is the first time racing and I am having an absolute ball. Everyone has been so friendly and encouraging, really feeding my new passion. I'd be more than happy to help out. I have a hilux with a tow bar if it's needed. Like all things however the earlier the notice the better. Cheers, josh

I'll be happy to help out too. No TC certificate but do have a towbar on the Mazda 6 - should make the trip 3 times faster than your Mazda 2 Rusty  Grin

Just need to coordinate the date though; won't be coming every weekend as have family committments occasionally.

I'll PM my mobile phone number if you like.

Cheers

We are getting closer to the Road Season , a little over a month away and for it to go ahead and be safe for all concerned we need to have Traffic controllers at each and every road meeting. A minimum of one for the Peats Ridge turn around and really a second is essential to assist in a safe environment when turning at the Calga/ Jones rd end.

The club has only a few certified members this year which would mean they would have to do around six to eight turns each for the season.
This is too much to expect of your clubmates , after all they want to race too.  Wink

Wal Shelley , our club secretary is taking names for a one evening training course which is FREE to club members and would enable us to all share in the responsibilities of running the season. You don't have to have a towball or even a car to be able to help out with Traffic Control, as the Calga end would mean you only have to get there by riding or bludging a lift . To assist at the Peats Ridge end , yes a vehicle preferably with a tow bar would be of a help, but if we can get the trailer there with the signs we can work something out.

Wal has had very little response to previous requests asking for names of interested parties and yet I have seen at least four members offer their services and seeking a TC licence.

So come on guys , get behind your club and put your name in , the more we have the less times you are needed to help. IF we don't get the names then the road season may have to be shortened or worse.  Undecided

Contact Wally on  shelley9@comcen.com.au

Also perhaps you know a person , maybe a friend, retiree or a student who has a car licence and a car with a towbar or access to one who would be interested in earning some dollars for easy work on a Sat. Let them know as if we can find a couple of people to do this job then club members would not be called upon at all except in an emergency. The club would pay for their TC licence and a wage for the afternoon.

Again email Wally if you know of someone .

Final reminder to everyone that the CCCC Road season kicks tomorrow Sat 17th at 2pm, with grades from A-E catered for. Don't forget that it is also the final leg of the CCCC Pushy Galore Tour - so plenty to ride for !

Remember that it is $10 for entry fee and if possible try and have the correct money. If you present a $50 note you will be asked to sit in the corner for 1/2 hour then return.

Trailer Pick Up & TC at Peats is Mike Tilley
TC at Calga is Mr Curren ( kindly subbing for Darryl, thanks Mick)
Commie is  Damon Scarfe
Sign On is Me and anybody willing to help

See you all up there

Grading for Calga 17/04/2010
If you are unsure of what grade you are riding tomorrow then:
The grade you raced and were written on the sign on sheet as in the last Crit race will be the Grade you ride tomorrow. Because the Calga race tomorrow is the third race in the CCCC PG Tour then the grading needs to be consistent.
The Grading may be adjusted for the 24/04/2010 race depending on how you finish in your respective grade tomorrow. If you haven't raced 09/10 Crits then see me at the sign on tomorrow to be graded.
Please remember that points are on offer for placings down to 6th tomorrow so it is important that you race in the same Grade as you rode in the Crits.

Start finish is at Jones Rd Calga. Take F3 from Kariong and take first off ramp 2 km after Mooney Mooney bridge then head to Peats Ridge approx 3 km.
