Pushy Galore - Central Coast Tour

Stage 1 - last crit of the season
Stage 2 - first Calga race of the season
Stage 3 - first time trial of the month

- Winner on fastest accumulated time
- Time bonuses for Stage 1 & 2
- Real time for the time trial

- Time bonus:
First 10 secs, Second 7 secs, Third 5 secs, Fourth 3 secs, Fifth 1 sec

- This event open to club members only. If an out-of-towner wins, time bonuses go to the next CC member across the line.

- This tour aimed at encouraging club members to make the change from crit racing to Calga racing and the TT will keep the race open until the end.

- Prizes and tropies supplied by yours truly

- We will need help with time gaps (stopwatch), spotter and a scribe

There may be other races that clash with this 'tour' - - unfortunately there's not much that can be done to prevent or avoid this.
I'm willing to back this, and make it an annual event...

Obviously the event will require the relevant club permissions etc but in the interim I would love your thoughts/ feedback on whether you think this would be a worthwhile/ fun event.

Not that I will be there Dan, I will throw a question at you though...

Is this for a single grade (A of course), or for all grades?

This is a fantastic concept! Great to see you supporting, and encouraging, the racing on the Coast...

Hey Dan,

I think this is a great idea. I thought of something similar but over a long weekend with 3 days worth of events. My idea could run into problems though with other events on and people wanting to go away etc. for long weekends rather than go to bike races every day.

Your idea fits into the existing calendar so it's got my vote! Not wanting to stretch your pledge of support/generosity for this idea by way of prizes from PG etc. but perhaps we could (as a club) do something similar for the Jnrs with their road season that parallels this event (?). I intend to go to the club meeting tomorrow night and if someone raises your idea I will enquire about the club doing something for our Jnrs.

Great idea Dan!  Grin

Cheers,
Stuey

Great idea Dan!  Maybe the fun part could be the family pub/presentation drinking festival.... I dont see much fun for anyone at Calga on either day.  From a selfish point of view - excellent way of stepping up before Eurobodalla.

Can't see how anyone could have a problem with you stumping up prizes and trophies for races CCCC are already staging anyway. I'm planning to give the road course a try anyway but wasn't in a rush to do time trials yet considering I've never even been to Adcock Park. This may get me down there quicker which is exactly what your evil plan is  Wink

Time Trials are held on the first Sunday of each month on the Calga Road Race course by ATTA.

FLA : ATTA = Australian Time Trial Association

Same one we use for club road events.  Cheesy

The concept has been floated as an open a few times in the past years but this is something concrete and takes no more real organisation than what is already done....apart from time gaps

Good on ya Dan.

Dates will be the following by the looks of it. (that means the order will be Crit, ITT, RR) ?

Crit - 2 April
ITT - 4 April
RR - 17 April

or if you want the ITT last it would be:

Crit - 2 April
RR - 17 April
ITT - 2 May

Do the Calga time trials go all year or do they start in April like the road season?

Getting decent numbers on Easter Sunday will be difficult.  I think 2/5 would be the better of two very evil evils.  The ITT should be last anyway because it is definitely what is going to sort you boys out from the girls! Grin

All year , Chris .  Wink

Crit - 2 April
RR - 17 April
ITT - 2 May

My thoughts , do the ITT last so those members who have never done a ITT can give it a go in April .

Also spaces the events evenly.

Time trials at Calga are on rain hail or shine all year round!  First Sunday of the month.
