As the title says for those who would like to keep an eye on my stint in Europe i will be using this thread to post the occasional update when i get time.

I will be based in The Netherlands for their summer and racing for a Dutch team called 'Team Wilton' http://207.97.219.222/

I will know more when i get there but i will just be a slave for some of the rosters strong riders and who knows (knee pending) towards the end of my stay i might gun for a result. I antisipate that it will take me approx. 4 weeks to build race fitness and get a handle on he cross winds and cobbles.

Thanks for those who have sent me messages of support so far, i will try my best to keep you in the loop and ill see you in October!

Michael we all care about the trip and the fact you will get to ride in Europe and be part of a fantastic cycling culture. Its just the fact we are jealous and dont want to talk about it.

Have a great trip. There is work for you when you get back.

Regards
Mick

I heard a rumour that someone has a 100% win record in Holland.

That being, 1 win from 1 race.

Thanks Murphs, heard the same rumour.  Wink

Raced a 70km Club Kermesse hosted by Amsterdam CC last night. Rough race report as follows.

Rode/caught train to race but got lost on my way. I turned a 15min ride from he station into over an hour!

Finally saw a fellow cyclist  heading the other way so followed him and he ended up at the race with 2mins to spare before the start.

Course was smooth hotmix, flat and fast. no technical sections. Best way to describe it would be, if Gosford Shire Council had any brains they would build an offroad kermesse course around the perimeter of Adcock park (Amsterdam Council have brains)

0-40km = avg was a surgy 46km/h, lost count of the number of attacks everytime the pace died off another attack went but nothing stuck. (seriously about 25-30 attacks)

40-55km = pace went from surging to a tough constant speed and blew some of the field off the back. Bunch went from 60 to 45.

55km = after this massive effort by a few strong guys a group of 9 formed off the front. I needed to get across but had nothing into the wind untill another guy who was looking strong attacked across the gap. I went with him and within 2km we had bridged the gap and bolstered the group from 9 to 11.

57-67km = group worked well and i was relieved to have that feeling i was in the winning move (thanks to some super strong dude)

68-70km = 2 guys attacked getting 8secs. When the 3rd guy went i followed him, we worked and joined other 2 making group of 4 very tied blokes with 600mts to go. I took a few deep breaths then hit them from 3rd wheel with 150mts to go. Some dude with massive quads was few cm's behind me but i managed to hold it for a win.

It was only a club race so am under no illusion i can mix it with the best here in Holland but was a confidence booster before 200km of cobbles the Sunday.  Undecided
