Now I know this is not for cycling matters girls but I Kane brought me a road bike because I keep complaining about him riding all the time.  He has me "in training" (started two weeks ago) for the Loop the Lake on the 9th of March.  Are there any other amateurs out there who want to join me???  I think I will do the 16km or the 55km.  I know a group of the boys are going to do it.  We are going to make it a bit of a family day too.  My parents are going to take the boys up.  If anyone else going up let us know and we can all hang together.

Good on Louise...
I think you should do the full ride, and drag these other slackers with you too... I know that Leash and Mrs GM always go to the gym (I hope it's not Jim) so they should have no excuse, and Kylie plays netball... Surely she needs some pre-season training....

Pretty sure Linda and my two boys are keen - just have to work out the logistics. If the timing is ok, why don't we all have a picnic up there after the ride? Sure there'd be plenty of parks on the lake up that way.

That would be a great social event for the club.... Possibly even to raise the profile to all those that live on the Coast and dont even know there is a club here. I grew up here loving cycling, yet never knew there was a club, and I played hockey all my life at Adcock Park, thinking what a waste the velodrome was...

Sounds great.  I know from last year that the area of start and finish is in a park on the lake.  It's a great spot in itself.  Hopefully it won't be raining.  Will Linda ride (or was Roskos comment on the gym right??)??

Linda will ride for sure, as long as the weather is ok.

You can count me in. I'm like Linda though. Need to work out logistics. If I want to ride kids can't come as they'll need supervision. Both sets of grandparents live 5 hours away so not always easy getting babysitters. I'm sure kids would love the family picnic so we'll see.

Simon and I were just saying we should look into it to see if kids can do the short course. I'll look into it as kids would love it.

Just checked it out. 16km ride is shortest and chn under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Family entry is $80. May just be some juggling with parking cars etc as the shorter ride and the big ride start at different places. Between all of us though we should be able to get everyone there and in the right place at the right time.

Us big kids can ride from the short ride place, then return.. We do after all like to spend more time with each other than our families...  Grin
