It is with regret that Cycling NSW advises this year’s Tamworth Two Day Tour has been cancelled.
This has been a difficult decision for the promoters (Tamworth Cycling Club) and Cycling NSW; one that has not been made lightly.
With the recently announced Federal elections scheduled for Saturday 21st August, many voters will be using the same roads as that of our tour creating potential risks that neither the Promoter or Cycling NSW would feel comfortable in attempting to manage.
We looked at alternate dates however with such a packed calendar of events, school holidays, World Road Championships coming up in Melbourne plus the National Road Series events commencing in earnest we could not find a suitable date nor resources to reschedule the event in 2010.
The Tamworth Two Day Tour is a much sought after event on the Cycling NSW road calendar and it will definitely be back on in 2011. We trust that members will be understanding in this instance and appreciate that these circumstances have proven to be outside the promoters and Cycling NSW’s control. Our riders and officials safety must come first.
This may provide many members with the opportunity of transferring their event entry to the John Woodman Memorial, Ride For Life, Cootamundra or the Moree to Inverell events all scheduled around late August early September.
Alternatively members may seek a full race entry refund which can be made to your bank account providing you provide your account details to Linda Hamwi at the Cycling NSW Office or have the funds placed into your race entry credit account for use against future events.
