Tamworth weekend is still going ahead.  Chels and I will go to this the weekend BEFORE on Sunday the 15th as per Womens Racing section, I will be supporting the womens race if anyone is interested in coming ... Kooragang will also have normal racing at 0900 which will kick off straight after if anyone is looking to attend.

Interclub weekend
For those still heading to Tamworth this weekend, this is a recent post on the armidale cycling club website.
Should make for a good weekend of racing.

August 9th, 2010 · No Comments
Armidale and Tamworth CCs will be holding an interclub road race weekend on 21-22 August.

The first leg will take place in Armidale on Saturday with sign-on from 1pm for a 2pm start on Long Swamp Road.

Day 2 will be in Tamworth, starting from the Loomberah Hall at 10am.

The entry fee will be $10 per race for seniors, and $5 per race for juniors.

The race format is yet to be decided but will include something for everyone, including juniors.

Great afternoon of racing in Armidale on saturday.
Instead of 75km of handicap pain at home, we lined up for 36km of undulating hills in freezing windy weather. Breeze was strong enough to have me wishing the new bike was not so light and I weighed a lot more than I do  Tongue
5 CCCC in C grade, and moi in B grade. Two out and back laps approx 18ks with enough hills included to have someone of my weight salivating, throw in a little altitude and we were in for an interesting arvo.

The C grade team went in with a plan that almost paid full dividends. 2nd return lap and all i saw was Yoni off the front, head down looking good for a win. Unfortunately the 30knot head/crosswind on the way home cruelled the win for the ladies, but Hodgee took second in a sprint finish aided by Stu with Whitey in the following pack, and Troy lamenting a broken spoke.

B grade started like a coffee ride. With one or two attacks uphill I was watching two Armidale riders who looked the strongest. The crosswind had me looking for cover as soon as it flattened out and put paid to any solo breakaways. A solid pace up the second last climb had the two Armidale riders following my wheel, a 100m break that they were happy to consolidate, and a nice little uphill that flattened out 200m before the finish was made for a CCCC win. The inevitable... "he should have been in A grade" was tempered by "gee that course suited me" and CCCC finished the day with some good results.

Keen to hear how the Tamworth club race went on Sunday.

Stu "Balls" Hughes took out a 1st in B Grade on the Sunday racing at Tamworth
Hodgie got a 2nd on the Saturday at Armidale C Grade and backed it up with a 3rd on Sunday at Tamworth B Grade.

Over all a great weekend away with some great talking topics (for those who remember)

Bring on 2011

Yes a tops weekend.  Grin

I have to give it to you Stu (Eddy) with your 1st in B on Saturday at Armidale. You were on your own in that race! I had the help of Hodgee and Yoni calling some of the tactics during the race. Sure helped!!

All in all it was great to get away and race at other clubs courses and of course against other clubs who did a smashing job of hosting the weekend's races after Julia dicided Australians had other things to do...

Looking forward to another one!!!
