Kodie & Nick did themselves &the club proud with some solid performances

Friday Time Trials
probably the best conditions of the whole weekend. Overcast 15C &10kph breeze.
Nick was not entered for this event.
This was Kodies 4th TT on this 10km course finishing 39th with another PB .A summary of how he has progressed 15 months.

July 2009 Canberra junior tour        20:23
September 2009 junior nationals     18:29
July 2010 Canberra junior tour        17:18
September 2010 Junior Nationals     16:14    39th

Kodie was happy with his result but disappointed not to break 16 minutes.

Saturday Road Races
The worst day of the weekend 12c & rain, heavy rain followed by more heavy rain.
Nicks race was first at 9:30.Two laps of the 34k course, total of 68k's.
At the12k mark there was a crash nick stayed upright & in the front pack.
At the end of the first lap Nick was holding his own in a peleton of 45 riders.
At the same place as the first lap crash there was another crash. Nick was caught behind the crash.Caleb Ewan, NSW & Thomas Hamilton,VIC didn't wait for another invitation & set sail for home. Caleb claiming gold. Followed by a group of 10 3mins later then 2mins later a group of 14 with nick challenging in the sprint finishing in 1h57mins 21st. A good result for Nick.

So much rain had fallen in the morning that the creek crossing was flooded & the road closed.
Kodie's race course was reduced from one 34k lap to 3laps of the 10k TT course+3laps of the crit course for a total of 33k.This was great for spectators, but robbed the hillclimbers in the field of their chance to shine.
The race started at 1pm in heavy rain.Fortunately there were no crashes in this race.At the end of the first lap Kodie was in the front bunch 50 riders lying 39th.
On the second lap the rain just got heavier. The bunch was down to thirty Kodie had just lost contact with them &was 34th.
Into the complex for last time a bunch of ninteen riders were led by Jack Edwards,Harrison Carter & Bradley Heffernan all NSW state team riders. In the final sprint Brad, gold,Harrison, bronze & Jack 7th.
4mins later at 1h18min in 27th & 4th NSW  rider home was Kodie.A very gutsy and determined ride.
It was an achievment  by any rider just to finish in such trying conditions.

Sunday Criteriums
Clear sunny skies 9c but rain had been replaced with strong winds.
8:30 Nick had to go through a 15min+2lap Qualifier in 20kph wind finishing 18th.
10:15 was Kodies race. 30min+3laps.The wind had whipped up to50kph.The pace was on from the start and riders were being lapped & withdrawn after 10 mins racing.Kodie was dropped after 15mins.He started passing other riders as they were dropped.Kodie was lapped & withdrawn after 27mins while in 33rd place. Only 21finishers.
12:00 Nicks final 40min+3laps.By now the winds had reached 65kph.This was guaranteed to rip the field apart.Riders were being lapped after 8mins. of racing.Nick was dropped after 17mins.
Once you lost contact with bunch in these winds it wasn't long before you were lapped.Nick holding solid 32nd place was lapped at the 24 min mark.Only 12 finishers.

A good character building experience for the boys.
Summary:Kodie            Nick
              TT 39th        RR21st
              RR  27th        CR 32nd
              CR  33rd

Just an indication of how much rain fell.On Thursday Lake George was dry,Sunday it had a thin layer of water across it.
