Todays format: Teams of 2. Mystery lapper. Min 10 max 16.
Starters: 34 (excellent number for Sunday)
Report: The pace started very smooth until 3 teams chanced their arm by sending one of their team mates up the road very early while other teams decided to save their legs and attack late in the race.
The 3 man break consisted of HODGEE, DAVE O & DAN TBM. Hodgee simply offered a Positive Contribution which was attentively followed by Dan. Dan was quoted after the race saying "You just can't afford to let strong men like Hodgee go so early in big races like these so I dug deep and started to work with him"
Dav O also saw the danger in such strong riders getting away and attack the bunch to bridge across the gap to round out the 3 man break.
The 3 looked over their shoulders and found themselves with a 12sec gap. They worked swapping turns and blew the gap out to 30sec.
The remaining bunch needed to do something and do it quickly because it was now lap 8 of what could possibly be a 10 lap race.
The 3 strong men had gambled on the Mystery lap to be 10 but were deflated when the prankster of a Commy gave the "ol' fake blow of the whistle" and left the bunch hanging in the head wind thinking that the next lap may "be the one"
The Commy pulled his fake whistle blow out for the following 4 laps taking the lap count up to 14 until finally the whistle sounded on the 15th lap making the race go the maximum distance of 16 laps.
The bunch split with the "workhorses' of the teams dropping off leaving the "go to men" of each team to fight it out.
Elliot Stevens (WAKI-Merida ) took the win with Hodgee his team mate delighted that his early Positive Contribution in the 3 man break paid off.
Hodgee enjoyed his FREE coffee for winning and gave renewed motivation to others to start training harder so they don't have to sit through the post-race synopsis of how Elliot capitalised on Hodgee's early attack and time spent in the Early Break ever again.

See y'all on the 14 Nov 2010 for what may well be the most exciting format of this years Sunday 'Mystery' Crits.
