a helmet saved my life from the clutches of a prado. I think maybe the souls that choose not to wear helmets are looking to be a candidate on the darwin awards list.
That lil ol lady in that article from scone is perhaps offering herself to be takken out of the gene pool. 15km/h is enough to do damage even on a cycleway concrete is concrete

I remember starting this a while ago.

While inspecting my not cheap Met Sine Thesis helmet this evening for damage post recent stack, I noticed some cosmetic damage to the thin plastic outer shell. On closer inspection I noticed the inner shell of the helmet had cracked right through from the impact.

Judging by the damage sustained to clavicle & ribs, I hate to think of what the consequences would have been had I not been wearing one.

In my first cycling life,  some 17 years ago, I was hit by a car.

I wouldn't ride without a helmet or gloves. In fact, for quite a while I rode with shin guards, because my clipless pedal put a massive divot in my left shin which required a skin graft. I still bear the scar from that.
