There are a few of us looking to go down to Eastern Creek tomorrow night to race with Marconi CC.

Racing starts at 6:30pm at the WSID Dragway.

If you're interested, let us know here and we can work out a way to take the least number of cars possible.

This is as much info as you'll get: http://www.marconicyclingclub.com/

It's a standard A-D graded format.

All four of us fronted up for A grade last night on what was basically an oversized hotdog circuit - tail wind down one side which had a small hill with a longer descent followed by a sharp left and immediately a sharp right. The other side of the course was a long flat slog into a punishing headwind.

Each of us took turns covering all the early moves and instigating a couple.

Thirty minutes into the 45min race the winning break took shape as two of the strongest riders took off into the headwind, the group I was off the front with had just been brought back and Gadget was recovering after his go off the front before mine - not sure where Murphs was at this stage.

I couldn't go again and was happy to see TC get into the move which made four off the front. The gap blew out slightly and the bunch pretty much exploded as individual riders tried to bridge all to no avail.

A couple of laps later and Gadget and I were trying to bridge to another three between us and the leading break with a couple of helpers and a couple of hanger onnerers. Things got very messy when A and B came together through the turns (the lead break made it through the bends before B grade which made the chase all the more difficult).

With one lap to go, we bridged to the second small group, exploded and were out of the race on what we thought was the run up to the finish. Turns out the previous bell was for B grade but we'd had enough.

We pulled over to find Murphs waiting for us to watch the finish where TC took a credible 3rd place.

Well worth the trip for a hard race and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for some more or extra racing/training mid week.
