Sounds too late 4u but I noticed Kincumber Computers had a sign out front for a $65 monitor, 18 inch I think (not sure, don't know brand either). That's roughly the cost of getting someone to look at a repair...

Sounds like you may have found a solution however I thought I would post this for others reference.

Officeworks has a 5% price match/beat guarantee. They will match and beat any legitimate bricks and mortar computer store within NSW. You just need proof of a better price, they may check it however.

In this case the cheapest my recommendation would be the LG W1943TE 18.5" Widescreen LCD. This LCD normally sells for $117.

However MSY which they know all too well about due to previous price matches sell it for $99. Therefore you should be able to get for under $95.

Although above is only a small saving, they all count and generally there is a much bigger price difference and therefore more saving.

I hope that makes sense.
