Last I heard there was some confusion as to whether Calga races would start this weekend. Does anyone know if this was covered at the meeting last night?

What was the problem?

Last week was the first scheduled race but this was changed due to the CD race which was consequently cancelled due to wet weather. As far as I knew, it was all systems go for this Saturday.

An update to what's on offer this long weekend:

Friday - North Loop - leaving Terrigal Pub 6.25, WGS 7am to Manns Rd, Lisarow, Kangy, Tuggerah, Wyong, Tacoma, Toukley, Wilfred Barrett, The Entrance and onto Terrigal for coffee.

Saturday - 1st club race of the season - Calga 2pm or join the group leaving Kariong Information Centre at 1pm for a ride to and from racing.
NOTE: The Calga races usually go ahead if it's wet so if in doubt, the race will be on. You will get a text message if the race is cancelled.

Sunday - Coffee ride for those heading out (I'll be sleeping in that day).

OR

Sunday 24th 8:00 AM Kooragang (HVV) Veteran Graded Scratch Races

Monday - PITS Ride - leaving Terrigal Pub 6.55am, WGS 7.30am - coffee stop at Cafe Jam East Gosford on return.

OR

Monday 25th 8:00 AM Kooragang (KOCC) Annual Women's Handicap 16km
Monday 25th 9:00 AM Kooragang (KOCC) Anzac Day Scratch Races – Sponsored Adamstown RSL

Tuesday - National Park Ride - leaving WGS 7am, Terrigal Pub 7.30am - north to The Entrance, Wilfred Barrett, Budgewoi, into the National Park and left onto Highway and back to Terrigal for Coffee.

OR

Beauie is on this Tuesday the 26th.

Public Holiday races usually attract the biggest numbers and the best racing so you will need to be there when sign-on opens as they do restrict numbers.

If we leave PITS somewhere between 6:45 and 7am we will get there early enough to sign on.

For all going to Beauie, be mindful last time we raced there with big numbers they reduced the times down to 25min for C Grade.

Ill go on the morning stump ride.

Also if anyone wants to go to Kooragang Island on Monday im heading up

From those who went this morning, an estimate on how far the ride was ? One of us was certain that it would be more than 100km and has the opinion that she is not strong enough for that yet (which of course is rubbish)

Around 24 riders turned up for the first of the Easter rides today and enjoyed a fairly leisurely ride in the sun.  Smiley

Coffee at Terrigal Crowne plaza with great company topped off a very pleasant morning.

Depending where you started from (I met the bunch at Lisarow) distance was about 80kms but 20k's of that was after coffee.

Happy Easter to you all.

Forgive my ignorance, but what do you mean by "PITS ride"? Could someone help me please.

I will, unfortunately, have a busy schedule this week-end (with Anzac Day commemorations in particular) but I am also planning to have a ride, the "PITS" one fitting my sched. But what is it?

Merci Beaucoup for any help provided.

PITS ride is  ride to the shop - Pie In The Sky on the Old Pacific Highway.

The route is up Kariong Hill, onto the Old Highway down into Moonee, up the other side, then left on the Old Highway heading to The Hakesbury River, over the old bridge and up the other side to PITS. Turn here and head back the same way.

A fair bit of climbing on this ride but because it's an "out and back" ride, you can turn for home anytime you like.

On these buch rides, everyone is "encouraged" to either wait at the top of all climbs or turn and head back down to the slowest rider and re-climb at their pace.

Hope that helps.

Hey, I was enjoying this ride and everyone was sticking together until the front runners decided to do a 'mad dash time trial' down Wilfred Barret' which saw me lose site of the group just before the Entrance Bridge, apparently they went left, but I went right and went the back way through the Entrance. I turned back at Bateau met up with Russ and we went we went home via Wyong Rd and Tuggerah. I'll know better next time and turn left instead of right after the bridge.

Hey Pat - I was looking for you at The Entrance and Russ said you were in front of us so we guessed that you may have taken a wrong turn? Normally we head back along the waterfront and stay off the main roads.

As for going quicker down the Barrett - that's pretty standard but today one of the guys came to the front and said to pick up the pace as everyone at the back of the bunch were on the brakes and it was a little dangerous with such a large group.

Hope you still enjoyed the ride.
