As usual CCCC was well represented at the NSW State champs this weekend with 17 riders competing.
Sat morning greeted the riders with a frosty but clear start for the TT's. I can only really speak for the U9's and U11's as we were on the crit track (U13 - U17 were around the corner on the open road- will leave the report to respective parents). Elizabeth started the medal tally by taking silver in her TT (the winner of the U9G did a faster time than the winner of the U9B, the next 3 fastest times were also clocked by U9G- lucky for the boys there are separate medals!)
Lilly was the only U11G for CCCC and performed well to take 7th in her 1st state champs.

The crits were contested on a challenging course in perfect conditions. Heats for U15B were first up with Peiden and Damon qualifying for the final later in the day. Sam made a valiant effort, the lone Coasty in his heat, but missed the cut.
The finals started with U9G again hotly contested with Elizabeth backing up to take another silver (the U9B had a 30s head start on the girls and again the top 3 girls caught all but one of the boys)
Lilly remained consistent with another 7th in the U11G final.
The U13G final was a tough affair, Brianna, Jess and Clare (in her first open/state champs!) had to deal with negative riding by some competitors- Brianna was left to do a lot of the work as the race progressed but was rewarded by marking the right move that placed her in a 2 rider break coming into the bell lap. Brianna was outpaced in the final 200m but took a strong second.
Peiden and Damon had a fast final in the U15B with Peiden always at the pointy end. Both were in the bunch at the sprint but out of the places.
U15G saw Taylor, Syan, Keely and Ailish step up in another fast race with Tay being the best placed in the end- Dave will have to fill in the details of this one.
Not sure how the 17's went- parents can fill in the blanks.

The riders awoke for todays RR to a heavy mist that cleared to reveal heavy cloud and a cold breeze (it was Armidale after all). Again the U9's were off first on a short, challenging hilly course. Elizabeth put in another solid effort to come away with bronze.
Bri backed up to also take Bronze in the U13G and Peiden took a very well earned Bronze as well after being in the lead bunch all morning that slowly shelled most riders over 7 laps.
Again I'll leave the U17's to parents...

All the riders had a great time and showed true team spirit and sportsmanship over the weekend.

These weekends are always made more enjoyable by the group of parents who are now quite well versed in these weekends of racing- the support offered to/by all involved is a credit to our club.

Medals

Elizabeth Huggins 2 silver 1 bronze
Brianna Hunt 2 silver 1 bronze
Peiden Telfer 1 x bronze

Great report hug's Im still to tired to add much more

Try 25 riders and support crew all in 1 cabin for dinner and drinks !!

15 womens crit ended up being a 11 rider bunch sprint with tayla hanging on for 10th keeley finishing with the 2nd bunch and Russel with Syan having one her best races ever

The road race for the 13's through to 17's is best described as blood hill every 4.5 k lap

All riders road extremely well with great results for all riders and parents

Big thanks to Damon for all the time and effort he has give these riders  the improvement in all speaks for itself

Agree with you there Dave.

I should also say a big thanks to Mic and all the regulars at club sponsor Finesse Cycling for their support and encouragement of Elizabeth over the last few months, we have seen a huge improvement in all aspects of her racing.
