Hi guys,

I used to meet with you for the social rides until my little kids took all my time up. NOw I just sneak in solo rides where I can fit them. Anyway, I need some advice:

I find cycling round here (in particular Gosford) pretty hairy and there's a huge number of people who seem to actually target cyclists buy nearly hitting/shouting and on one occasion throwing stuff. Is this just me!? anyway, I was actually driven off the road near my house in Gosford (I got the guys details as he was a plumber and had his details plastered on the side of his ute!).

Police can't do a great deal and my only solution to save actually getting in a confrontation with some idiot is a bike mounted camera.

Any thoughts?

thanks,

Phil (humphrey)

Hay I live in Gosford too, it's not just you riding a bike on the coast we might has well paint a bulleye on us.
I find the road between west gosford and woy woy one of the worst I learnt not too fall off when a long neck hits me.

But I've learnt not to get angry now cause most of the time their car is full of red neck cyclist hateing hoons.

I don't think things will ever change they will just get worst, look at the front of the dialy telegraph the editor must be a car driving anti cyclist person Sad

Watch out for a Dark Blue Grubby looking small sedan, possibly an older Laser in West Gosford area.

Coming home from a ride to PITS Sunday was passed by a car on Manns Rd who blasted his horn while swearing thru the passenger window. He then pulled over and slowed till I was almost alongside and then attempted a U turn straight in front of me while yelling abuse out his window.
This was right at the entry lane to Bunnings. I had to swing right out to the middle line to avoid him.
Luckily for me another car was just approaching behind me which stopped him and fortunately for me was not too close to run me over.

I didnt get his licence plate as I just wanted to get outta there.

Early afternoon, Double Flashing Tail Light on my bike!

Obviously not a fan of cyclists.  Undecided

He trains in Europe (obviously)...not in a place where Jarryd Hayne gets more media attention in the newspaper for a "he said - she said" headbutt accusation in a Kings Cross nightclub (surprise - surprise!)...

He does now, but my point is that if cyclists were banned from Australian roads (as some in the media would like), he would not be a pro cyclist at all.

That's an amazing story but unfortunately not surprising. Ive had some close shaves with lunatics but nothing as bad as your story chicken. I'm glad that they are not offering a public holiday for Cadel's effort in the TDF as it would be very hipocritical of those drivers who abuse and endanger the lives of cyclist to take a day off on the back of Cadel's achievements on a bike.

Not to mention the tool who undertook the D Grade bunch on Saturday as they turned at Peats Ridge, where I was TC.  To save twenty seconds of his do doubt exremely precious time, he swerved his truck (towing a tralier) with one hand on the wheel while he gave them the finger with the other.

I know we're not meant to retaliate but God it is hard sometimes.
