I think I counted about 5 people in front of me at the finish. Had a close call when someone pulled in right in front of me, not sure how I missed him... Probably went too hard on the hill the last time... I turned the corner (missed the guy who was skidding into the corner), then had almost nothing left in my legs for the last little bit.
But had a bloody great time...

Great effort Timmmm. Well done !

Also thanks to Gary for all of the pointers and showing me around the circuit before the race.

A fantastic turnout on Friday & very encouraging to see so many new faces & new members signing up on the day. A great advert for cycling on the Central Coast.

Also fantastic to see & catchup with some of you regulars.

A few observations while doing TC on the 1st corner:

The speed going through the 1st corner as a spectator, especially in the higher grades, is both phenomenal & quite scary. I know it's different when you're on the bike & in control, but for someone watching it is quite hair raising.

While many would question taking advice from me given my track (road) record this year, my two cents worth to some of the newer guys/gals would be to go down to the 1st corner & watch the higher grades through.

Observe how they choose & follow the same line through the corner, do not use their brakes, have their hands in the drops, accelerate out of the turn, & have confidence in most of the riders around them.

The A Grade race was an exciting watch with its attacks & tactical nuances. Good to see Elliott back, Mick winning (again), that new boy in black mixing it up for 2nd, Murphs going around the corner sideways (avoiding a slower rider), & Nick Y looking the part in his new kit. The scene is set for a combative & exciting season.

While I'm itching to get back, I was also scouting the competition in the B Grade sprint finish for my return next month. While I'll never have Greggy's vocal confidence as mine is of a quieter nature, I'm under no illusion of how hard I'll have to work prior to my return just to be there at the finish. But if I am...

Ride safe & stay upright!

Col..

Hi All. Just wanted to say a big thanks to Murph and Gary for taking the time to have a chat with me before the C grade race. I hope I didnt cause any issues for the bunch and I really enjoyed myself and will definately be back this Friday. You can train as much as possible however it is definately different in a race environment and I am keen to learn as much as possible with the aim of being a much better competitor. Need to think about my attack strategy as well, taking off with about 1km to go probably want the smartest move. I had nothing by the final turn.  Overall great night and enoyed the racing and the support from spectators.

I can't recall - I didn't look back... (Plus my vision was all blurry due to my heart trying to escape my chest...)

What time do you come past the Tuggerah Business park. I was looking to ride to crits so will meet you on Wyong road near the bunnings roundabout. If I am not there when you go past then keep going.
