SMS List

As most of you are aware, the club has been paying for the SMS's that are sent out by myself and Mick on an almost weekly basis. At a recent meeting it was was suggested and agreed upon that although every member receives the messages only a percentage of members turn up to rides, races, events that are broadcast.

It was felt that to clarify who actually want or find the messages useful there would be a cost of $10 to any riders that would like to receive the messages. It is anticipated that this small amount will last about 6-9 months of messages.

Mistakenly, I sent out a message stating it was going to be $20 - this was my mistake.

It has since been suggested that the club should pay for the service not the members. Yes the club has the funds to cover the cost of all messages but do we really want money to be spent on a service that is only used by some of the members? Yes, I understand the club often spends on things that only benefit some of the members but the SMS service is like flushing cash down the toilet when they go to riders that don't ride. This was brought up at the meeting and it was agreed that $10 would be the perfect amount as it's not too much but enough to sort the riders that want the messages from those that don't.

I for one totally agree with the $10 cost and thinks it's a small amount to get the info on rides, races and any news.

Just so you are aware - the club sent and paid for over 15,000 messages in 9 months!

The club paid for a further 3 months to bring us to the start of the crit season to ask members that want the messages pay a small amount.

I am happy to pay a small amount to receive messages.

I don't currently receive messages from the club though.. Should I be receiving them?

A number of riders didn't get the chance to sort out payment for the SMS list at racing last night due to the early start of D and E grades and being the first night of racing.

If you missed out but would still like to be added to the list, there will be someone (not sure who yet) on the sign on desk next week. Make sure your mobile number is correct when paying.

If someone is able to volunteer to look after this next week, it would be greatly appreciated. I won't be there, so I'm guessing Linda won't be either. Whitey has the list and will be the one to see if you can help out.

Linda (aka Mrs Andy H) will be at the sign on desk tonight to collect $10 for anyone thats wants to stay up to date with club rides, races, training , social events through the SMS service.

This is the last week anyone will be collecting cash and phone numbers at sign on. After tonight it will be up to you to get it sorted with one of the club committee. Trust me - it will be easier to sort it out tonight.
