This is long overdue and a good intiative. On another note I wish I was there to see some pot belly policeman on a mountain bike trying to chase down and A grade rider on carbon who didnt signal when turning a corner. Grin

They also need to target this during the week. Couriers give us the worse reputation.

Do you mean those people who are trying to walk on the right hand side of the shared path on my commute into Gosford ? Or the people who are walking 400 metres behind their toddlers on bike paths as if that is a safe place for toddlers to be ? Perhaps you mean those poor people walking two abreast who look surprised when I want them to get out of my way ??

I follow the rules whenever that is practical, but I won't ride uphill in an 80 zone on my "crappy old mountain bike", even where the alternative is a pedestrian footpath. I don't want to hold up the traffic, nor do I want to get killed.

When I'm riding my road bike I ride on the road, when I'm on my crappy old mountain bike I ride on the road as long as it is safe to do so.

Cyclists should be encouraging cycling, not encouraging "targeting" of cyclists. Of course there are some idiots on bikes, but I like to think that they are the minority.

I mean the foot path only used for walking on. I was hit by someone in the middle of gosford on a Footpath while walking home out of the shopping centre.

I do fully understand their is cycle ways and shared paths but I'm talking about the people who do stupid things like 2 days ago I saw a guy riding a BMX down the road in the middle on the wrong side that's just plain DUMB

I'm not against cyclists I'm with them I'm against these sorts of dumb acts by people riding around in dangerious manner !!!!

Back on topic.

Wayne & Vic agreed. I welcome the police are targetting the minority of cyclists that give us a bad reputation ( and Paddington is a great place to start) who think they can disobey the rules. At the same time, it would be interesting to see the Police target drivers who, may or may not (notice Im giving them the benefit of the doubt) who don't actually practice safe driving behaviour in regards to a cyclist.

I would be interested to see how many drivers actually are aware of the rules and who infact
give a metre distance or worse, are too inpatient to wait but pass in a dangerous manner.
