OK, I'll post about the Juniors, can't remember much about the Seniors carnival due to too much sun and fun

Awesome staring lineup for CCCC in the Junior Country Championships and CC Carnival, with many of the kids only having had their first ride on a track bike a few weeks before.

Alex and Felicity were in amongst it in the Under 9's.  Both rode really well with Alex placing fourth to the older riders on countless occaisions.

In the Under 11's we hade Branko, big John, Syan, and Brianna taking on some of the best in the State.  Branko rode superbly all day and managed to pick up a bronze in the Scratch Race.  Everyone else gained a lot of race experience in a very short time, and big John showed that he's going to be a force to be reckoned with in the future placing close to the podium in just about every race with only a few rides on a trrack bike under his belt.

As reported elsewhere Travis clean swept the Country Championships in the U13 Boys category and Kodie worked tirelessly to eventually pick up silver in the Scratch Race.

In the U13 Girls it was Caitlin and Tayla who were riding in their first open against much bigger and faster opposition.   Caitlin managed a spot in the sprint final and placed fourth after putting in a big surge coming off the final bend on the bell lap.  She was gathered up at the 200m mark and placed fourth in her first open final. Both girls rode extremely well and will be a force to be reckoned next year.

Rookie rider of the day was Peter Horsnell (in the U15 Boys) who showed plenty of speed in his first open event amongst some very talented opposition.  Peter jumped on a track bike about five weekes ago and showed just how much raw talent he has by putting it to guys that have had many, many years of riding experience.  Keep an eye on this young fella coz he's got speed to burn and a big heart.

Jacyn Mellish and Scott Harding were the CCCC reps in the U17 Mens.  Scott had a blinder of a day grabbing silver in the ITT and then winning the wheelrace with a superb ride against much more fancied rivals.  Jacyn rode extremely well and worked some impressive team tactics to perfection in the Junior Carnival.

Most of the Junior riders raced 7 or 8 events in hot and humid conditions on what is one of the longest days of Junior racing that you could imagine.  I was exhausted by the time it had finished and I hadn't turned a pedal in anger, so imagine how they felt by the time the sun went down!  So when you see them on Wednesday night make sure you make them feel proud to be a CCCC rider, because they really did represent their clob to the best of their ability.

---------

There were a couple of Junior Development exhibition races on during the day and the big winner was young Tom Y who is about 4yo and absolutely blitzed the field in the first JD Handicap.  He backed it up with an impressive 2nd place behind Nick C after having his handicap adjusted.  All the other JD riders (Chloe, Alex Y, Nick Y, and Aiden) rode awsome races and put on a great show that the whole audience appreciated.

Hopefully most of the JD riders will progress to riding track and/or road open events in the near future because they all have talent to burn.

------------

If you know a youngster who could use a bit of bike handling skills development then put them in touch with Brian Smedley so they can join in the fun too!
