Wally is struggling to get traffic controlers to the races and no controller means no race. How do you feel about paying an extra $2.00 per race which will give us say $60.00 to pay a traffic controller per race session?

Do you know someone that wants to learn traffic control and willing to come to the race each week and earn $60.00? Could be a spouse, child or friend - as long as the person has held a licence (P plate is ok) and they are keen to come to the race. Easy cash, good pocket money and I'm pretty sure the club will pay for the traffic control course (1 Day at Kariong).

1. Are you happy to pay an extra $2.00 per race?
2. Do you know anyone that can help?

Skein is temporary, knitting isn't.

we should all do the traffic course and then each week one of us dons the fluro vest and hold the lollie pop.

it should be only one or two weeks max out of the whole season if we all do one week.

im in, who else will come and do the traffic controller course??

thats not to say that other no riders should also do it and some weeks, not all, we can chip in a little extra and pay someone. but if we do the job there should be no pay.

If we pay the traffic controller, shouldnt we pay all the other volunteers?
Everyone who races should take a turn, I guess half the people who volunteer week in/out would like a break and a race too?

If we can pay someone and it allows someone else to race, I think it''s a good idea. Yes, we still need volunteers but most jobs don't require specific training or for the volunteer to miss the race.

If Hodgee's son is keen to earn a few dollars, is reliable enough to show each week and want to do the training I would be more than happy to add an extra couple of dollars each race.

great point GKW,

if we started to pay the guys that allow us to race each week the likes of crafty and wal would be millionairs, and they would deserve it too!

Setting a precedent could be a mistake Smiley

Give Wally a call if you are interested in doing a controllers course and he'll get the ball rolling. If we are going to rely on the club members to do the traffic then we should get a few guys through at once.

I've emailed Wal asking for more information re commissaire & controller courses.

If we get enough members for a controller course we may get a cheaper rate, then go to the pub when we're done Grin

a few of us were talking about the stop go man, and the general feeling was that if you have your ticket and you volenteer to sit out the race and be the lollie pop man/woman you should be able to enter the race free of charge the next week.

yes, we have had that running all along, maybe people aren't sure about it.  If you do a lollipop or sign-ons you get a free pass, they are little laminated cards that the Commissaire can give to you.  Most people haven't asked for them as they are happy to do it once or twice a year regardless of the free race entry.  But YES, they are there and available for anyone who helps out.
