I am definately interested.  By next year I promise to be a full CCCC member, the PPCC only table on the coffee ride gets a bit lonely  :'(  Once you guys have the final dates I will let you know for definite

Here are the dates so lock them in if you are keen, or have to book leave in advance.

Thursday January 8th - Leave Kariong in the morning.
Sunday January 11th - Arrive Kariong in the evening.

Ride details and itinerary to follow at a later date but rest assured there are plenty of great climbs and rolling hills in picturesque surroundings, quiet roads and comfortable accommodation, heaps of laughs and great camaraderie.

Guys and girls just a reminder about Tour de Snowy 09. Only 5 months away if you have to plan leave etc. A Tour to rival Le Tour DF. One not to be missed....... Post your interest here, see Stumpys dates.

Well I wouldn't miss this for anything.

Just found my data from the Tom Groggin climb earlier this year:
Distance 13.3km
Ascent 1100m
Time 1hr 10m
Av Heart Rate 172

This was climbed after 2 hrs of riding.

My smallest gear was a 39x23 btw, it was ugly on the steep bottom sections. Thus next year i will be sporting a 12x27 cluster to help smooth out those nasty climbs, i suggest anyone else keen for this trip acquire some special gears for the long climbs. Oh, start training too, i have  Wink

Just realised 17.8 was a bit long, that was to the coffee stop at Thredbo.

Don't let Elliott scare you, the Tom Groggin climb is not compulsory.  That is part of the long ride.

You've just got to break it down in your mind. 1100m over 17.8km = 6%. Kariong Hill rises about 190m over 3.5km = 5.4%.

We've all climbed Kariong Hill and suvived - so just think that you're climbing Kariong 5 times and you're there!  Grin Huh

That doesn't sound too hard....  Huh is there any longer/harder climbs?

I dont know what's going on with the data but I can tell you there was nothing 6% about Tom Groggin Shocked. The alltimeter on my CS600 held a steady 10-12% most of the way up with some small peaks on the turns of 14%. Look fwd to it again next year, that long day was a killer

That sounds better.... because 6% is hardly climbing... well we did 40km climbing 2400meters (Tenerife) before I was even racing.... and it was tough but nothing killer

You are right Gadget, the real stats are 13km and 1100m.  Average 8.5% with plenty of steep bits.  Attached is the profile, ignore the vampire teeth.

I can now say that from personal experience that the Tom Groggin climb was harder than any Col I climbed in France.  Huh

Can't wait to do it again after I drop the excess kilos and get fit again.  Grin  One too many baguettes in France and way too many beers in Germany - can't wait to do that again either.
