Can anyone recommend an easy, relatively flat, safe ride on the Coast?  For the Womens Skills course, we want to finish with an already organised time and day for a training ride.  The first one needs to be relatively easy to get the women used to riding on the road.  Having some wide berth on the side of the road would be great (most of these women don't ride on the road for a reason!).
Any suggestions please?

The 'flattest and widest' roads are usually up north, the shoulders there are usually more consistent. An easy ride would be The Entrance to Toukley along Wilfred Barrett (opinions you northern types).  There is an easy point to meet, with plenty of parking at the park. The road is a little rolling, though no climb as such, nice and smooth, traffic is reasonably light, and there is a good shoulder the entire way...

The shoulder does narrow in a couple of spots & the speed limit is 90kph.
Cars at that speed could be a bit daunting Smiley

Another good place to ride is around Umina, Woy Woy, & Ettalong.  It is nice and flat and the streets are wide with only one lane of traffic.

I have always found 'The Peninsula' to be a dangerous place to ride. The roads are flat, wide and way too many old folk!   Lips sealed

yeah willy B is safe,

it has the bike lane marked but as Al said it does narrow sometimes.

definatly one of the best roads to ride on the coast.

There is always the more ofroad options. Tuggerah Buisness park or something like that, just thinking out loud.

On of the reasons I thought of Wil B, is the fact you can ride for a reasonable distance without having to go round in circles.

Kylie, Linda and I did the Will B and found that to be a good ride but there was a lot of debris on the shoulder (branches etc) so that we ended up closer to the cars.  Good ride for some of the more experienced girls maybe not so for the newbies.
Might be a good place to start though given that everyone thinks its good.
Cheers for all the feedback.

If you gals decide The Barrett is the go let me know & I'll do a recon & clean up a bit the day or so before.

To offer some thoughts:
It's about 9ks from the north side of the bridge to the cemetery. If you turn left into Oleander St, a quick left right at Evans which is still Oleander past the boom gates at the caravan park to the lake. A right onto the concrete shared path for about 500m where there is a shop. All up about 25ks return.
Budgewoi has coffee shops near the bridge which would be 28ks return.

ourimbah creek road is a good one for newbies... it's very quiet and flat, not the smoothest though...
