my report will be short (like stumpy's legs)

there was a record bunch today of 32 riders, 64 tyres. 128 break pads.
tadays ride was very hilly, the only flat part of the ride was troy mcdonalds tyres, so it made it hard to ride as a big tidy bunch, but in saying that we did really well and i was happy sitting in there.

I'll leave other parts of the ride to the other blokes/lady to describe but i'll just let you know about after we turned onto the freeway and charged it home down ourimbah and to the tuggerah exit.

glen (nickname needed) elton was his usual self and very strong on the front when i thought i was funny and powered past him as a joke then sat up, its the worst thing i could have done because then the C grade riders took over and ripped my legs off. To those guys simon huggins, col y, allan you are so much stronger than you think you are so keep it up, it was excellent, no wonder the biggest bunch on fridays crit was A, because everyone is going so well, soon we will only need an A grade and maybe a whitey grade. (of course it would be ranked above A grade)

p.s. i was pushed over when we were stopped and did not fall, (thats my story anyway)

I am thinking a special award for Troy both front & back tyres at once. Maybe we could work it into the Club Night. Still a good ride it's great to see so many out.

Who were the winners?  I only know Hodgee took out the first sprint at Terrigal after The Flying Rubber Chicken went too early.  KOM? The prestigious QOV?  Any nominations for the Descender from Hell title?

There were multiple winners of the southern group's sprint at Somersby industrial estate, mostly because no-one knew where the finish line was! Smiley Hodgee took the first one waaaay before the first roundabout, PushyGaloreMan took the second one, and Stumpy (who was showing plenty of speed) took the third and fourth sprints.  Winning two sprint titles in one go is cheating, so he's got to get a DSQ against his name.  Tongue

Re QOV
Seeing that I held this before todays ride then I am handing it to Millsy. His effort today was soft. He met up with the bunch on Wisemans Ferry Rd near the shop at Mangrove and tried to convice us that he had a bad nite and riding up Mangrove Rd was as tough as BH. Millsy you own it now and have to be on the next ride to prove you're not as soft as someone else.

Whats this about Mick as KOM. There was only one KOM and that was me.  Cheesy

Actually there should be two KOM's awarded one for the lead bunch and one for the slow coaches coming up the rear which Mick won.  Grin

Heres how it unfolded : About 15 of the faster riders were first to the base of Bumble Hill.
I was sitting near the rear with Freya as we had just done a huge turn for almost the entire length of Yarramalong road.
As riders scrambled for the small ring and the big cassette in the first 100mts my previous knowledge of the Bumble Hill grades enabled me to jump up to fifth wheel.
Con and Tweedy took off early with a huge out of the saddle effort for the first K gapping me by about 150mts. I knew they couldn't keep that up for the entire distance so decided to pace myself, something I learnt from Mick, don't pull out too early or was that Hodgee.... anyway Crawford and Richard? Pettigrew were the other two riders in front.
As we neared the 2km mark and the 17% pinch Crawford turned around... spent I thought at the time and I drew alongside Richard and pulled ever so slowly away . Meanwhile up front Con and Tweedy were still at it then Con cracked and unclipped near the top of the 17% .I was now about 30mts from Scott. Over the next 5oomts I reeled him in and for the next K we swapped turns if you could call them that . With 1 K to go just as we saw the steep left hander with the gum tree Tweedy alongside yelled how much further .I shrugged .. couldn't waste air. When he yelled how far again I said about a km and this is the hard bit. Trying to Physche him out. Maybe it worked as I gained a slight advantage. Tweedy hung on tho trying to gain any advantage by slipstreaming me at 10k/hr. As we passed Forest Rd I warned him the KOM point was coming up and jumped with what little energy I had left to gain the win and uphold the reputation of 'THE CHICKEN'.  Cheesy

Isn't that how a KOM is won Mick?  Being first to the top I mean.  Coming second, even if you are fastest, is still coming second.  If you can't keep up on the flat bits before the climb then don't be complaining when it all comes undone 200m before the polka-dot jersey is being handed out.  Grin

Thanks Mick  Kiss, It was a bit tongue in cheek my report ,actually more tongue hanging out really Tongue.

But after you telling me at the Christmas drinks today about yours and LVS's regular jaunts and multiple hill repeats  Roll Eyes up Bumble Hill I am truly humbled.

You deserve it as much as me. Whatever prize i get i'll share it with you  Grin
