Numbers were down from the Coasties tonight, Div 4 had Simon Huggins, Pete Krauss and myself in there, Div 2 had Dan Cleary and Mick Curran was in Div 1....
The warm up scratch races were preceded with chat of what was to come in the nights racing. Dan the Bike Man, who had obviously been over to France with Andy, had plenty of FIGJAM with him from the festival of the fig. With a camera attached to the bars, and the bold statement of "I really need to put this thing on the seat post facing backwards, everyone will just think I am in a warmup race otherwise!" We'll see!
Scratch Races.... The large field meant there were two heats in Div 4, Huggsy and Kraussie in the first, me in the second. We all used the race as a warmup, well thats our story! With legs warm we were now ready for the points rounds. Div 2, and Dan the Camera Man nearly missed the start, too busy talking himself up! With the camera running, it was just as well it was still mounted on the bars and not looking backward. There will be video coming soon to show the finishing order of the race! Div 1, Mick was going to be in for a tough night, these guys know how to ride, and fast. The quality field gave Mick a chance to warm his legs ready for the points rounds too.
1/2 Field Sprints... As it says, the Divisions are split into smaller fields for sprints. Div 4 saw 3 Heats, with each of us in a separate heat. Simon and Kraussie missed out in theirs, while I managed to pick up a win in my heat. Prior to the race, Tosser offered advice I should hit them early, my little gear would be useless otherwise, 2 laps to go and the opportunity came along to give it a try. I went off the front and was able to hold it to the line. Div 2 and Dan was ready on time, camera still facing forward. Coming into the last lap, Dan was positioned well for the win. Onto the final bend and he was moving forward, then backward, then looking beside him, then coming in 5th. So close to the points! Div 1 and the speed was on, Mick was there, just not at the right end.
Madison... Div 4 was the Madison leadout. This event is to show riders how the changes are carried out during a madison race. The race is led out by experienced Div 1 riders, and all you have to do is sit on wheels. Easier said than done! Simon's heat rolled out first, and splits appeared quickly in the paceline due to the pace of the Div 1 riders. Positioning was going to make the difference. Simon came in around 5th with the pace right up there. Ok.. So I have to be in good position, meaning last wheel or there abouts! Doh! Splits. Slower riders. Riders who don't like to hold a wheel. Oh well... Kraussie put himself up front, and reaped the benefits taking the win. Div 2 and I missed the race... lol.. Poor Dan, he got the win and I missed it. Div 1 and the madison was on, with slinged changes, near misses, fast riding and Mick teamed up with a guy from Canberra. Madisons are great fun to watch with a good commentator so you know what is going on, and Crafty is the best! Mick's team came in 4th, a great result for guys who don't know each other, and against absolute quality opposition.
Combines... I didn't hang around for the combines, though I got to see Kraussie pick up his second win of the night as I was leaving.
Another great night of racing at DGV, and a note for the girls, there was a heat made up entirely of girls for the 1/2 field sprint, so come along and have some fun....

CCCC @ RAW Point-Score
after 3 rounds
Rank Name Total 1 Andrew Mills 41.0 2 Dan Cleary 39 3 Michael Mellish 36 3 Peter Krauss 36 5 Simon Huggins 35 5 Mick Curren 35 5 Ross Clague 35 8 Peter Holly 33.5 9 Glen Elton 33 10 Michael Smith 32 11 Graham Tierney 30.5 12 Kodie Howard 30 12 Richard Pettigrew 30 12 Tegan Hunt 30
Don’t forget you can have 4 of the 7 rounds off and still get basic points (10) So theoretically a rider who has not been to RAW yet can still win this Point-score

point score is close and we need some numbers. i can take 5 people and bikes in my van. if you work in sydney and want to make your way to dunc gray after work, i am happy to take your bike down. you just need to drop it at my shop (pushy galore). if you have not ridden on the boards before, you must try it, it is awesome!

Sooo..... even if you only turn up for one week the whole season please do so and score our club 30 points towards the club challenge. here is whp im talking to....
