How are our crits timed [I know, by a watch Grin] Are all times started from the roll out of A grade or does time start at the roll out of each grade or some other sun dial method? Is the bell at the discretion of the officials? There seems to be a bit of confusion. Thanks

Yeah allen, I noticed we hadn't reached 35mins when they rang the bell.

as far as im aware, but may be wrong, the time is started separatly for each grade and the bell sounds when the leader of the race passes the finish line for the first time after the specific time. (e.g.35mins)
so if the leader rolls through at 34min 50sec the bell will sound the next lap around.
all of this however is at the commys discretion because if two grades look like being on the sprint/bell lap at the same time it is safer to hold one grade back a lap.

You are so wise for someone so fast.  The bottom line is that you "play to the whistle".  So if the commissaire rings the bell then you're definitely on last lap.  If you're tongue's hangin out and the commissaire doesn't ing the bell then it's definitely tought luck, keep pedalling!

2 riders from Kooragang called me on Friday for directions, did they end up racing last night?

And yes, all grade are timed separately.  If I Commy then every grade does the minimum time set out for the race and extra laps are added if groups need to be separated for a sprint finish.  You can't expect the last lap to come exactly when you think it should.

There was a Kooragang rider in our race.  I think he finished 2nd.

Jock
When we raced at Ourimbah we had a sign to show 2 laps to go. It gave the race a different strategy feel near the finish with 2 definite laps left not one or maybe 3 to go without really sweating on the timing. Any thoughts on bringing that back anyone ? good or not so good.

white,
at ourimbah the deal was 35mis plus 2 laps, so when the 35mins was up the sign came out and then the bell for the last lap. At present at wyong it is still 35mins but only plus 1 lap so there is no need for the sign just the bell.

The plus 1 lap option was voted on at a meeting as far as im aware and i think doesnt change the outcome of the race anyway.

you should just break away from the start then keep going untill you win so it should not matter someone as strong as you
