"You need to man up Hodgee" - Chelsea

Just thought I would tell you all of my experience this morning with a poor magpie.  As I was riding along the Esplanade at Ettalong two Magpies flew directly across the front of my bike, one poor little Magpie thought it would be a good idea to take a shortcut through the spokes of my front wheel.  It was a shortcut alright, the poor little magpie was cut completely in half.  Sad As the wheel turned, the magpie was guillotined by the spoke when it hit the front folks.   Shocked  Obviously all this happened and was over in a second.

I know this may sound bad, and trust me I tried to avoid the collision, but the scoreboard for me is;

Cyclists 1 Magpies 0

Now the story doesn't end there. After leaving the scene of the crime, for which I didn't think I needed to stop to see if the magpie was alright as there was 2 large pieces on the road and it was safe to say the magpie was goooonnnneeee and as I result it probably means so are all the babies in the nest!!  I proceeded on the normal coffee ride route along West Street Umina.  The road this morning was wet and slippery and as I went around the roundabout onto Ocean Beach road the wheels decided to leave me and down I fell like a sack of sh#t.  Angry  Embarrassed As a result I lost skin off my hip, knee, elbow, arm and finger.  Sad Now this was only 1km from the magpie accident, so do you call this magpie karma?  Anyway I’m still alive and willing to adjust the scoreboard;

Cyclists 1 Magpies 0.5

Good luck to everyone while riding in the magpie season!!!!

A rabbit ran [or is that hopped] under my BB one night a few years back. The thought of it getting tangled in the spokes freaked me out Shocked
