Note from the JDO

This Sunday will see the last of our Winter RaceSkills program and what a great winter season with our experienced riders doing Opens and putting in stellar performances and a number of our new riders doing their first Country Tittles. The winter has also seen us enjoy RaceSkills up at North Wyong for the first time, which was a great success. The last few weeks has shown riders really starting to gain their fitness and race capability.  Central Division Championship was only a couple of weeks ago now and CCCC made a fantastic showing in all the division with some results I am sure will drive some riders to new levels.

I would like to thank all the parents for their help and support, whether it be standing on a corner or working a stop watch, it all make for smoothing running for the kids.

As we move into the warmer months our focus changes to Track racing at Adcock Park. This truly looks to be an exciting season with a number of our riders now starting their second season on the track. The season will start Wed 8th October see further down for details. To add some excitement to summer the juniors will also have their own criterium racing this year see details below.

For more frequent update a forum has been created that can be accessed at www.impactcycling.com.au or via the club website at www.centralcoastcyclingclub.com  and click on the link. If you don’t have access to the internet or email please let me know and I will find another way of getting the information to you.

CycleSkills

We will once again have a CycleSkills program this Spring over six weeks commencing Sunday 19th October at the CARES facility, Ourimbah. This is aimed at new riders to teach them the basic before moving to RaceSkills. So if you know anybody who might be interested please tell they are well come.

Opens
This year our aim is to get more of our riders racing at Opens.  I have attached a link to the Cycling NSW website where you can see the Open details. The official calendar is not out yet so keep your eyes open.

Cycling NSW

Opens need to be entered two weeks before the event and can be done online. If you are not sure about racing opens, come and ask me.

Club Bikes

As our numbers grow, we are sometimes challenged with the number of bikes we have.  To allow us to have new riders join our sport we need to give them a helping hand, how many of you realised how much quicker a road or track bike was once you climbed on. Now you wouldn’t look at those mountain or BMX except for fun.

To help these new riders we have decided to put a two season limit on the hire of club bikes. How does this work, well if you it is easy if you start in a track season you can also hire a club bike for the road season. The expectation then is that for the next track season you would have your own bike, allowing somebody new to use the club bike. The some works in reverse if you start in the road season.

As a quick note if you are looking at buying right now have a chat to us as we have some store giving us some great deals at the moment. In addition, a road bike might be the go as you can use it for Sundays and road season.

With bike hire over the summer season the as we will be moving between events if you are intending to race both venue you will need to take the bikes home with you. Also you will need to be prepared to change bike configuration from track to road and back. This is not hard and takes about 15 minutes.

Memberships

One of the joys of taking out your full racing license is that you get 14 months for the price of 12. So join for the whole year with a racing license and start racing our opens.
