When I was a kid, before the days of sunscreens, I got badly sun burnt, in particular my nose, on many occasions. It has haunted me ever since & for the past 20 years or so I have been a daily user of sunscreen summer & winter.
Over the years I have had lots of little scaly skin bits frozen off at Skin Cancer Clinics. In the last couple of years 2 small [due to early detection] squamous cell carsenomas have been cut from my neck & back.
A couple of months ago I was diagnosed with basal cell carsenoma, one of the least dangerous forms of skin cancer, on the end of my nose which will require removal of the effected area. This procedure includes a skin graft & is to be performed by a plastic surgeon. I’m booked in in a few weeks & can’t wait

Keeping out of the sun is difficult with a sport like road cycling & wearing a broad rimmed hat wouldn’t quite cut it. I guess riding early or late in the day & wearing sun screen is about the best you can do. Having regular checks is rather important, particularly if like me, you were regularly sun burnt & work outside.
I will be missing after the knife, I guess, for a couple of weeks so feel free to gork when I get back. The only consolation I have is when I'm done it sure is going to look better from my side than yours
