Well folks its that time of year when the big fat fella come to visit ( no I am not looking for somewhere to stay). I would like to start by wishing everyone a very Merry Xmas and a Happy new year.

Thankyou to all the riders and their parents for making a successful year for the Central Coast Cycling Club Juniors. 2009 looks to be a fantastic years with new riders joining and our current riders getting stronger. Wow what a great a year it will be.

Just some house keeping

Membership

Annual memberships are now due if you haven't renewed as yet this needs to be done before Jan 1 so that you can continue racing. If you are one of our newer members and joined after 1 Oct 08 you are cover so don't panic.

Sorry but if you haven't renewed you will not be able to ride.  Also make sure you bring your receipt or new license with you the first week back.

Junior racing

Its time for a well deserved rest for junior racing. There will be no junior racing Xmas Eve 24th Dec or News Years Eve 31st Dec. We will return Wed 7th Jan 09 ready to go. Hopefully Santa has been nice and there are some new gear out there.

Junior Gearing

From the 7th Jan all juniors rider whether they are riding open grades or junior track will have to ride to there specific gear.  The night of the 7th will be the rollout night and if you are on the wrong gear you will be required to have it fixed by the following week or will not be able to ride.

Below are the rollouts for each grade as well as a chart to see what gearing make up the numbers. If you have any problems let me know.

- JUNIOR GEARING  - ROLL OUT DISTANCES
a)   Roll out distances shall not exceed the following:
   Junior U/19 Men      7.930m      Junior U/13 Boys      5.500m
   Junior U/19 Women   7.930m      Junior U/13 Girls      5.500m
   Junior U/17 Men      6.500m      Junior U/11 Boys      5.500m
   Junior U/17 Women   6.500m      Junior U/11 Girls      5.500m
   Junior U/15 Men      6.000m
   Junior U/15 Women   6.000m
b)   To restrict roll out distances mentioned above, blocking off may be permitted by the adjustment of the derailleur or other means.
c)   Junior Under 19 Male/female competitors may ride unrestricted gears when competing in CNSW sanctioned open events

The reason for this is consistency amongst the juniors and also for the benefit of the juniors that when they get to an open they are use to the gear. The junior gear should not impede the riders in the open grades as many riders including Jason Mellich have always ridden the right gear and still done really well.

Opens for next year.

Below are a list of the opens I would like to see the juniors participate in next year.  Goulburn is the first of the year and a great fun day. Entries close 4 Jan 08 and you can enter online at https://bne100v.server-secure.com/vs71139_secure/nsw/login.cfm or via a manual entry for attached and fax it to 9738 5853or  email to brian.crawford@cycling.org.au. If you have any question please give me a call.

Fundraising

Well done to everyone who sold the fundraising chocolates and lollies. Mrs Huggins is doing up the dollars at the moment and I will run a bank for the fund raise to allow new gear to bought against it. I will let you know your  balance in the new year.

New clothing

If you were at the track last Wed you would have seen the frenzy surrounding clothing. This will continue until the end of Jan so have a look at what's there and if its fit I can take it from the account.

As far as new clothes go we are searching for a new supplier at the moment. As soon as they are found we will get an order in.

Sponsored Knicks.

Dr Rod Beckwith has offered to supply the juniors with knicks sponsored by his medical practise. I want to start by saying thankyou. I think I now have the list and will be sending the details to Rod tomorrow. As it is Xmas we it will probably not be until the new year until the order goes in. So hopefully towards the end of Jan we will have a new sponsor on our behinds.

At the Track.

Special Note from Paul Craft. You may have noticed the witches hat sitting opposite the gate on the inside of the track. These have been put there to encourage safe crossing with a few near misses occurring. So please use these pathway when entering or exiting the track.

Junior U15 and U17 riders

Junior U15 and U17 riders have an opportunity to participate in a track camp towards the end of the holidays. This would be great for some of our new riders. I have attached the forms.

Here is the detail fro the Cycling NSW website.
16 Dec 2008: Junior Track training camps are on in January 2009: JM15 & JM17 – 2 days staying at Ridges one night 20th & 21st January. JW15 & JW17 - 2 days staying at Ridges one night 22nd & 23rd January. For more information and an application form please email Barrie McLean with “Junior Camp” in the subject line. Contact:- barrie.mclean@cycling.org.au

Once again to all have a Very Merry Xmas and a Happy and Safe New Year.
